Mrs. White, Principal

It is my absolute honor to serve at the helm of this amazing Middle School, where our primary goal is to create an environment where students can learn and succeed. With this in mind, we as a school strive to promote such an environment in our building through visual and intellectual stimulation, consistent discipline policies and encouragement.

A native of New Jersey, Mrs. White was born in Jersey City and attended the Newark Public School District. She graduated from William Paterson College in Wayne, New Jersey, and obtained her Master's Degree in Administration and Supervision from Cheyney University in Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of John Terry and the late Ethel Terry. She is married to Henry White, Jr., and they have three wonderful boys, Henry III, John, and David.

Mrs. White has received numerous awards and commendations for her service in education and community/parental involvement. She believes in helping people grow to their fullest potential and understands true leadership is learned not a trait you're born with. She believes that the students mind is a precious trait and knows that "Students don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." She is inspired by Roland Barth, and knows that children are our given successors in this world and we must prepare them to lead, respect, and gain further knowledge.

Mrs. Atkins-Turner -
Assistant Principal

I am completing my second year as Assistant Principal here at Pleasantville Middle School.  While I love being an Administrator, I’m still a teacher at heart.

I have been employed in the district for 17 years.  I began my career as an elementary teacher at South Main Street School, where I taught grades 1 - 4 respectively.   During my time at South Main, I realized I wanted to impact education at a different level, so I enrolled in graduate school.  I earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership in 2001.

I have enjoyed many successful years in Pleasantville because early in my career I embraced the challenges and rewards of teaching in an urban district.  This has kept me focused and committed to my students.

I am elated to be a part of the Middle School family and will do my best to impact teaching and learning in a positive way.

Mr. Palmer -
Assistant Principal

Darren Palmer is a public school administrator certified in New Jersey. Raised in the “world’s playground” of Atlantic City, where he worked in public housing and taught elementary school,  he now resides in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Darren graduated from Atlantic City Public Schools (1983) and attended Atlantic Community College (now Atlantic Cape Community College). He received his richest education and grounding from North Carolina Central University (Durham, NC) where he gained a B.A. in Sociology (1988). After teaching public school for several years, he attended Rowan University, earning a M.A. in Educational Leadership (2004). Mr. Palmer was an administrator at the Middle School of Egg Harbor Township before coming to the Pleasantville Public School District.

Darren, is dedicated to a purposeful and enriching education for all students. He is particularly concerned with the status of “urban youth” as it relates to their academic achievement and future prospects.

Darren is a proud father and family man from the “old school”. He has participated in various local civic and professional organizations in this vicinity.
