Uniform Policy

The Pleasantville Board of Education Policy (5132.1) on School Uniforms for the
2007-08 school year is as follows:


Middle School, Alternative and High School students will wear:
Slacks/Skirts/Shorts - Color - Black only
Slacks must have no more than four regular size pockets. No jeans or parachute pants,
or cargo pants, etc. Skirts and shorts must be no shorter than three inches above the
top of the kneecap.
Tops/Shirts (Color - Maroon only)
Pullover tops three-button golf shirts/tops are acceptable. Length - 12 to 14” from the
waist.
Sweaters - Maroon only - cardigan or pullovers - No layered looks
No tank tops, or bare midriff permitted
Transitional Grade for the Middle School
5th Grade students will wear maroon tops and black pants

Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 4 Students:
May wear black, grey or maroon (burgundy) jumpers
Grey sweat pants and tops on physical education days
Tops/shirts (must have collars - color White or Maroon) – pullover tops (with collars) and
button type shirts/tops are permitted. No tank tops, bare midriff, or tee shirts are permitted
Footwear for All Grades
Footwear color must be black, soles must not mark the floors
Sandals, open toe shoes, and flip flops are not permissible
Winter boots will be permitted only in the winter on cold and/or snowy days

Logos:
All clothing items may have school logos, but the logos may be no larger than two
square inches
Headbands are not permitted. Muslim students are allowed to wear Khimars, Koofies and
Head Wear, but they must meet the color selection stated above
Uniforms must be worn the first day of school, Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006. Students who fail to
dress as per this policy will be disciplined as per the Code of Conduct (failure to follow school rules).

 

After July 1, 2006, go to the Main Office of the school your child attends. Bring the following with you: - Last two current paycheck-stubs for 2006 for all applicants, from both parents, and or both guardians - 2004 1040 Filed Income Tax Return for all applicants, parents and or guardians, including a Schedule C for self employed applicants - Standard Letter from the Social Security Office with income listed (if applicable) - Standard Letter from the Atlantic County Welfare Office, listing your case number and monetary income eligibility (if applicable); please note your application can not be processed without this letter - Copy of your current last 2 unemployment checks (if applicable) - Foster parents must follow the same income criteria, and submit proof of monetary disbursements for Foster children All applications will be filled out at the student's home school. Based on the income criteria scale, thc Principal will assess if you qualify, and they will verify student's enrollment, by signing off on the application. The original application will then be forwarded to the Office of Financial Service's Accounting Department, for filing purposes. Once applicants are approved for a voucher, your child's home school will contact you by phone, and you may call the main office to schedule a time to come pick up your uniform voucher. Vouchers will be distributed by appointment at your child's school Main Office.
