Dr. Gloria Grantham holds a Ph.D. in educational administration from the University of Pittsburgh, and comes to Pleasantville from Howard University in Washington, DC where she was a faculty member in the Doctoral Program in Educational Administration and Policy. Dr. Grantham is the former (6/07) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Superintendent of the Chester Upland School District in Chester, Pennsylvania, and an educational consultant specializing in the pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade urban school administration.
Dr. Grantham began her career in the classroom, where she taught high school science. She was a district supervisor and a high school assistant principal in Delaware before moving to higher education, where she held both teaching and administrative posts, serving as Assistant and Associate Professor, Dean, and Associate Provost. After her higher education tenure, Dr. Grantham returned to K-12 education and served as the Executive Director (Divisional Superintendent) for Transformation Schools, and Middle and Junior High Schools for the District of Columbia Public Schools in Washington, D.C.
